- Board of Governors BOGW Enrollment Fee Waiver: waives annual enrollment fees for qualified students.
- Grants do not have to be paid back:
- Pell Grants, awarded to low-income students
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, for low-income students with exceptional financial need

Cal Grants, funded by the state
- Scholarships are awards are based upon specific qualifications, talents, or merit - often without regard to financial need.
- Work-study students earn money toward their education through part-time jobs.
