Baseball Drops 9-4 Contest against College of Marin

Box Score

REEDLEY, Calif. – Sophomore Jonathan Pasillas (Lakewood HS) counted a double and triple, adding a run, but the Warriors (1-1) dropped a 9-4 contest against College of Marin (1-2) at Reedley College on Thursday.

Freshman Brady Dorn (Baylor) earned the team's other multi-hit performance, also tallying a triple and adding a run. Freshman right-hander Taylor Rashi (West Torrance HS) was charged with the loss after throwing 4.1 innings, facing 23 batters and striking out six.

Baseball looks to rebound against College of the Sequoias on Friday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.

Quintero Leads Warriors to Late Five-Run Rally at Cypress

Box Score

CYPRESS, Calif. – Freshman Maleigha Quintero (El Segundo HS) hit a one-out triple to score two before scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to propel the Warriors (3-1) to a 6-5 victory at Cypress (0-1) on Wednesday.

On the day, Quintero went 3-for-4. Freshman Taylor Richter (San Pedro HS) counted the team's only other extra base hit with a double in her first at-bat in the opening inning.

ECC faced its final three outs trailing the Chargers 5-1. After a quick fly out, Cypress pitcher Taylor Pierce walked the next three batters, setting the table for Quintero's two-RBI triple to right field. Richter counted the first run of the rally, scoring on an error by Amanda Toledo, followed by freshmen Brigid Antonelli (Redondo Union HS) and Raelani Camez (Lakewood HS). 

Another walk followed by a strikeout brought freshman Kammy Fisher (Redondo Union HS) to the plate, facing two outs with two runners in scoring position. Fisher counted her second hit of the day, knocking the game-winning two-RBI single to right field.

Freshman Natalie Francis (West Torrance HS) picked up the complete-game win in the circle to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Softball completes the week at home hosting Grossmont College and College of the Desert on Friday, Feb. 5. Competition begins at 10 a.m.

Softball Rebounds with 12-4 Win over Golden West

Box Score

TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman Raelani Camez (Lakewood HS) went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a walk-off solo homer, as the Warriors (2-1) defeated Golden West (0-3) 12-4 in five innings on Tuesday in the ECC home opener.

After allowing all four runs in the first inning, ECC shut out the rustlers, allowing only a pair of hits. Freshmen Brigid Antonelli (Redondo Union HS) and Kattya Calderon (Ripon HS) both earned multi-hit games with two each with Antonelli counting three runs.

In the circle, freshman Brooke Sarro (West Torrance HS) earned her first win of the season, throwing 3.1 innings and scattering three hits on 14 batters faced.

Softball returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Cypress College at 2:30 p.m.

Women's Tennis Shuts Out Glendale, 9-0

Results

TORRANCE, Calif. – The El Camino College women's tennis team (2-0) shut out Glendale College (1-2), 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon.

Violet Simpson, Jade Shugars, and Nathale Juarez all earned their second singles victories this season - all in straight sets.

The Warriors return to competition on Tuesday, Feb. 9, hosting Riverside City College at 2 p.m.

Baseball Dominates Antelope Valley in Season Opener, 12-1

Box Score

TORRANCE, Calif. – In his ECC debut, freshman Noah Barba (Santa Monica HS) went 3-for-5 with a three-RBI shot to lead the Warriors (1-0) to a dominant 12-1 season opening victory over Antelope Valley (0-2) on Friday evening.

Barba added a RBI-double to his stat sheet, while sophomore first baseman Jake Sahagian (Penninsula HS) counted four hits on five at-bats including three doubles. 

Freshman right-handed pitcher Cassius Hamm (Chico State) earned the win, facing 15 batters in four innings of work. He only allowed one hit, striking out six.

As a team, the Warriors tallied 17 hits - nine extra-base knocks - and were errorless in the field.

The baseball team returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 4 against Marin College. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. and the game will be held at neutral site, Reedley College.

Men's Basketball Comes Up Short at Cerritos, 75-62

Box Score

NORWALK, Calif. – For the third straight game, freshman guard Isiah Armstead (Fredrick Douglas HS) led the Warriors in scoring off the bench with 25 points, but ECC (4-17, 1-3) came up short at Cerritos (15-9, 3-0) on Friday evening.

Freshmen forward Da'Koda Lacey (Marietta HS) and guard Tristan Egans (Crosby) both posted double-figure nights with 13 and 11, respectively. Lacey also earned a game-high nine rebounds with a pair of steals and pair of blocks.

The men's basketball team continues a short stint on the road on Friday, Feb. 5 at LA Harbor. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Three Warriors Post Double-Figures but Drop 72-53 Contest at Cerritos

NORWALK, Calif. – Freshman forward Kourtney Noa (Redondo Union HS) posted a 15-point, 11 rebound performance, but the Warriors (11-12, 2-2) dropped a 72-53 contest at Cerritos College (17-8, 3-0) on Friday evening.

Freshman Megan Peneueta (Redondo Beach HS) rebounded from earlier in the week with a 19-point, five rebound, two assist and two steal performance. Sophomore guard Tyler Quinn (Bishop Montgomery HS) added 11 points.

The Warriors return to action at LA Harbor on Friday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m.

Warriors Earn 7-2 Victory over Irvine Valley in Season Opener

Results 

IRVINE, Calif. – The women's tennis team (1-0) swept the doubles competition en route to a 7-2 win over Irvine Valley (1-1) on Thursday afternoon.

Violet Simpson, Jade Shugars, and Nathale Juarez all counted singles victories as well, winning in straight sets. 

The women's tennis team returns to competition on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Glendale College at 2 p.m.

Warriors Drop 83-62 Contest to Long Beach City College

TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman guard Isiah Armstead (Fredrick Douglas HS) paced the Warriors with 15 points off the bench, but ECC (4-16, 1-2) dropped an 83-62 contest to Long Beach City College (11-10, 2-0) on Wednesday evening.

Armstead shot 6-of-14 from the field, including a trio from beyond the arc. Freshman forward Da'Koda Lacey (Marietta HS) and sophomore guard Dreymon Jones (Redondo Union) both counted 13 point, six rebound, and two steal performances.

The Warriors return head back on the road, facing Cerritos College next on Friday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.

Women's Basketball Falls to Long Beach City College, 61-44

Box Score 

TORRANCE, Calif. – Sophomore guard Tyler Quinn (Bishop Montgomery HS) posted a team-high 14 points, but the Warriors (11-11, 2-1) fell 61-44 to Long Beach City College (18-4, 2-0) on Wednesday evening.

Sophomore guard Kyla Jolly (North Torrance HS) added the team's other double-figures performance with 12 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 performance from the line. 

The women's basketball team continues play on the road at Cerritos College on Friday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.

Mung Earns Pair of Wins; Men's Tennis Falls 6-3 at Fullerton

Results

TORRANCE, Calif. – Samuel Mung led the Warriors with doubles and singles victories, but ECC (0-1) fell 6-3 to Fullerton College (1-0) on Wednesday afternoon to open the season.

Mung competed with Angel Takahashi in the doubles competition, winning 8-5, while Seth Abraham picked up the team's other singles victory, winning in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Mung's singles victory came in scores of 6-1, 6-3.

The Warriors return to action Tuesday, Feb. 2 against Saddleback at 2 p.m.

Men's Basketball Evens Conference Record with 84-80 Win over LA Southwest

Box Score 

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Freshmen Isiah Armstead (Fredrick Douglas HS) and Da'Koda Lacey (Marietta HS) combined for 29 points to lead the men's basketball team (4-15, 1-1) to a 84-80 victory over LA Southwest (0-14, 0-2) on the road on Friday evening.

Armstead went 10-16 from the field with three rebounds and a steal, while Lacey shot 73.3 percent from the field (11-of-15) with a team-high seven rebounds. 

The Warriors return home to host Long Beach City College on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.

Warriors Stay Undefeated in Conference Play with Dominant 79-50 Win at LA Southwest

Box Score 

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Freshmen Megan Peneueta (Redondo Beach HS) and Elise Allison led all scorers with game-high 16-point performances as the women's basketball team (11-10, 2-0) stayed undefeated in conference play with a 79-50 victory over LA Southwest (1-16, 0-2) on Friday.

Peneueta posted a solid all-around game, adding six rebounds, seven assists, and eight steals. Allison led the Warriors on the boards with nine, tallying three assists and three blocked shots. Freshman Kourtney Noa (Redondo Beach HS) added 12 points, while sophomore Michelle Sroczynski (Bishop Montgomery HS) rounded out the scorers in double-figures with 11.

The women's basketball team hosts Long Beach City College next on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m.

Women's Basketball Takes Conference Opener from LA Harbor, 73-42

Box Score 

TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman Megan Peneueta (Redondo Beach HS) paced all scorers with 20 points, leading the women's basketball team's (10-10, 1-0) to a conference opener victory over LA Harbor (2-14, 0-1), 73-42, on Wednesday evening.

The game marked Peneueta's eighth 20-plus point performance this season. She added six rebounds, five assists, and seven steals. Sophomore Kyla Jolly (North Torrance HS) added 19 points and six rebounds, while freshman Elise Allison (Redondo Union) earned a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Off the bench, freshman Ronice Williams (Di Vinci Science HS) rounded out the scorers in double-figures with 10 points.

The Warriors continue conference play at LA Southwest on Friday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

Men’s Basketball Comes Up Short in Conference Opener to LA Harbor

TORRANCE, Calif. – Coming off the bench, freshman Jason Ball (Venice HS) scored a team-high nine points with seven rebounds, but the Warriors (3-15, 0-1) fell to LA Harbor (11-10, 1-0) on Wednesday evening, 66-46, in both team's conference opener.

Freshman Gavin Reagan (Mira Costa HS) pulled down a team-high 10 boards, while freshman Tristan Egans (Crosby HS) was the team's second-highest scorer with seven points.

The men’s basketball team heads to LA Southwest on Friday, Jan. 22 for a 7 p.m. tip.

Men’s Basketball Falls at East LA

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Sophomore Dreymon Jones (Redondo HS) scored a team-high 14 points, but the Warriors (3-14) fell at East LA (16-2) on Friday evening, 90-50.

Jones added three steals, while freshman forward Da'Koda Lacey (Marietta HS) added eight points on 4-of-5 shooting.

The men’s basketball team hosts LA Harbor on Wednesday, Jan. 20 to open conference play.

Warriors Drop 74-67 Contest at East LA

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – In their last non-conference game of the season, the El Camino College Warriors (9-10) dropped at 74-67 contest at East LA (15-5) on Friday evening.

The Warriors converted on nine of 19 attempts from beyond the arc led by freshman Meghan Peneueta's (Redondo Union HS) four threes. Peneueta paced the team with 22 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Elise Allison (Redondo Union HS) added 17 points and five rebounds.

El Camino College returns home for its first conference game of the season against LA Harbor College on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m.

Men’s Basketball Wins Second Straight with 63-53 Victory over Pasadena

Box Score

TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman Brandon Guerrero (Santiago HS) scored a game-high 12 points off the bench, 10 in the first half, to lead the Warriors (3-13) to its second-straight victory with a 63-53 win over Pasadena City College (4-13) on Wednesday evening.

ECC led by as many as 16 at the 51-35 mark with 11:49 remaining in the game, boosted by sophomore Dantay Blanson (Red Oak HS) and freshman Gavin Reagan’s (Mira Costa HS) nine points each. Blanson added a game-high seven rebounds. 

The men’s basketball team heads back on the road at East LA on Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Women’s Basketball Comeback Falls Short against Pasadena City, 65-64

Box Score 

TORRANCE, Calif. – Despite 12 lead changes and seven tie scores, the Warriors’ (9-9) late run came up short, 65-64, against Pasadena City (11-8) on Wednesday evening.

PCC opened the game by scoring the first seven points before ECC eventually took a 31-27 halftime lead. A 19-6 run in the first 8:12 of the third quarter seemed to put the visiting Lancers in control at 46-37. But ECC turned the tide with 12 unanswered points giving the Warriors a 49-46 lead in the fourth.

With 40 seconds left in the game, the ECC trailed 65-59. Two free throws by freshman Kourtney Noa (Redondo Beach HS) and a huge three-pointer after a turnover by sophomore Kyla Jolly (North Torrance HS) setup a frantic final nine seconds. After the Lancers’ inbound pass hit the roof, Jolly’s final shot at the buzzer just missed and allowed the visitors to escape with a 65-64 win.

Freshman Megan Peneueta (Redondo Beach HS) led all scorers with 24 points, adding 12 rebounds. Noa chipped in 11 points in just 19 minutes of play, while sophomore Michelle Sroczynski (Bishop Montgomery HS) added eight points and two assists off the bench. 

The women’s basketball team travels to East LA on Friday for a 5 p.m. game.

Jones' Long Distance Shooting Propels the Warriors to First Conference Win over LA Trade Tech

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Sophomore guard Dreymon Jones (Redondo Union HS) scored a team-high 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting from long range to propel the Warriors (2-13, 1-1) to their first conference win over LA Trade Tech (0-13, 0-1), 63-48, on Friday evening.

Jones added five rebounds and a pair of assists, while sophomore forward Kevin Corona (Huntington Park HS) added 12 points. Freshman forward Da'Koda Lacey (Marietta HS) paced the Warriors' rebounding efforts with seven.

ECC returns home to the North Gym on Wednesday, Jan. 13, hosting Pasadena City College at 7 p.m.

Men’s Basketball Falls Short in Conference Home Opener to Mt. SAC, 60-54

Box Score

TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman Isiah Armstead (Fredrick Douglas HS) scored a team-high 13 points off the bench, but the Warriors (1-13, 0-1) fell short against Mt. San Antonio (7-8, 1-0), 60-54, in the conference opener on Wednesday evening.

The Mounties went on a 6-0 run to close the game after four lead changes and nine tie scores between the two teams. At the half, Mt. SAC held a 28-24 lead, with the Warriors being led eight points from Armstead and five points and six rebounds from sophomore Kevin Corona (Huntington Park HS).

ECC’s points came primarily off the bench with freshman Da’Koda Lacey (Marietta HS) scoring nine, and freshman Tristan Egans (Crosby HS) adding eight.

The men’s basketball team returns to the floor on Friday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at LA Trade Tech.

Women’s Basketball Drops Conference Opener to Top-Ranked Mt. SAC, 76-46

Box Score

TORRANCE, Calif. – Freshman Meghan Peneueta (Redondo Beach HS) led ECC with 17 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, but the Warriors (8-8, 0-1) dropped its conference opener, 76-46, to top-ranked Mt. San Antonio (17-1, 1-0) on Wednesday evening.

Sophomore Tyler Quinn (Bishop Montgomery HS) added 11 points, while freshman Elise Allison (Redondo Union HS) added seven boards and a pair of assists. 

The women’s basketball team returns to the court on Friday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. at LA Trade Tech.
