El Camino College Fashion Department to Present “Runway to Wonderland”
El Camino College will debut its 37th Annual Student Fashion Show “Runway to Wonderland” on June 3 in the East Dining Room. Featuring student designs modeled on the runway, the evening begins with an opportunity drawing and reception at 7 p.m.; the fashion show begins at 7:30 p.m.
“Runway to Wonderland” is a student-produced fashion show created by students in Fashion 44, “Fashion Show Production and Promotions.” To produce the show, students are divided into five committees: design/merchandising, modeling, promotion, finance/secretary, and staging. Students learn event-planning principles and produce the fashion show as their final project.
In the El Camino College fashion program, students learn about clothing, construction, fashion illustration, pattern making, draping, computer-aided fashion design and manufacturing. Through merchandising classes, students learn about presentation techniques, planning, promotion, fashion coordination, advertising and sales.
Proceeds from “Runway to Wonderland” will be used to fund next year’s fashion show and will help fund a scholarship that will be awarded to one up-and-coming area high school student.
Advance-sale tickets to “Runway to Wonderland” are $8 for students with ID, ECC employees, and children; $10 for general admission; and $15 at the door. Tickets are available at the Industry & Technology Division Office (ITEC 102). Campus parking is $3.
