DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

A.A. Degree
The degree in economics is designed to provide students with a foundation in macroeconomics and microeconomics theory. Economics majors will acquire knowledge of the principle economic models for understanding how the national economy functions, the fundamental laws of supply and demand, and international trade theory. Students will be able to apply methodologies to assess fiscal and monetary policy, price levels, and the allocation of goods and resources in competitive and monopolistic markets. Competencies will be assessed through regularly scheduled objective and essay examinations and problem solving assignments.

Complete the Following:
Economics 1, 2,
Mathematics 160 and 161 or 190 and 191; 

And choose two courses from the following:
History 101, 102, 140, 141
Political Science 1

Students will also need to complete transfer admission and general education requirements for the university they plan to attend. Not all majors and universities are provided in this list. Complete as many lower division requirements as possible before transfer. In general, applicants are selected primarily based upon strength of academic preparation and grade point average.

*Note: Transfer students MUST complete IGETC or L&S Requirements in Reading and Composition, Foreign Language, and Quantitative Reasoning by the end of the spring term prior to fall transfer at Berkeley.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE
