A.A.
Degree
The degree is designed for students who wish to earn a
multiple-subject teaching credential authorizing them to teach in
grade K-5. Students will study a broad range of subjects to prepare
them for teaching, including English, mathematics, science, social
science, visual and performing arts, and human development.
Competencies will be assessed regularly through projects,
examinations, laboratory experiments, and presentations. Program
assessment will be conducted by tracking student placement in
teacher preparation programs at the university level
General
Information
Majoring in Education will afford students the
opportunity to complete the first two years of lower division
coursework for their intended transfer institution and, depending
upon the program selected, up to 45 hours of the required fieldwork
for the credential.

Transfer Degree Option: Students must
complete the requirements listed on the guide sheet for a transfer
institution.
Teacher Preparation Option: (pending approval by the California Community College System Office): English 1A, Mathematics 70; Speech Communication 1 or English 1C; History 1A, Political Science 1; Geography 5 or Child Development 3 or History 3; one course from: Biology 10, Geology 6, Physical Science 25; one course from: Art 1, Dance 1, English 15A, 15B, 35, 36, 40A, 40B, 42, 43, 44, Music 11, 12, Theatre 1 Total Units: 27-28

requirements, please obtain a transfer curriculum guide sheet in
the Counseling Services Center,
consult with your counselor, or visit the Transfer Center. You
may use the transfer major requirements to help you fulfill your
