INTRODUCTION TO THE CURRICULUM HANDBOOK

Curriculum development is integral to maintaining El Camino College’s commitment to academic excellence. To that end, The El Camino College Curriculum Handbook is designed to facilitate curriculum development, review, and approval as well as to aid College Curriculum Committee representatives, Division Curriculum Committee members, and interested faculty, administrators, and staff. These individuals should find the handbook’s general guidelines, procedures, and sample forms necessary for course and program development excellent resources.

 In particular, the handbook provides College Curriculum Committee representatives with information which will assist them in understanding and fulfilling their responsibilities. It also serves to guide Division Curriculum Committee members so that they can review and approve curriculum in accordance with state regulations as well as local policies and procedures.

Adherence to the guidelines and procedures contained in this handbook will enable El Camino College to continually develop curriculum which is consistent with its mission to meet the educational needs of its diverse community and ensure student success by offering quality, comprehensive educational opportunities.
