DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES
A.A. Degree
The degree provides students with a thorough foundation in the theory and practice of speech communication. This is achieved through a variety of courses that serve to develop personal, business, and professional communication skills in individual, interpersonal, and group situations, along with skills in research, organization, critical thinking, argumentation, and forensics. Students will demonstrate their proficiency through performance, class projects, research papers, objective tests, critiques, and competitions. Program assessment is measured by program completion, transferability, competitions at the local, state, and national levels, and periodic program review.
El Camino College Major Requirements
Complete the Following: Speech Communication 1, English 1A;
And a minimum of 15 units from: Speech Communication 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 14, 24abcd, 25abcd (four semesters of Speech Communication 24abcd and four semesters of Speech Communication 25abcd can be applied toward the major requirements)
Total Units: 22
Certificate of Recognition
A Certificate of Recognition will be granted to the student completing the following courses with a grade average of B:
Complete the Following: Speech Communication 1, Speech Communication 4, and Speech Communication 3 or Speech Communication 12.
(At least 6 units must be completed at El Camino College.)

You may use the transfer major requirements to help you fulfill your associate degree requirements.
