Nursing 212 - Perioperative Nursing Course
Nursing 212 is a basic perioperative nursing course offered for registered nurses with no experience in the operating room. AORN Standards of practice will be used as a foundation in the application of the nursing process in all aspects of perioperative nursing care. Students will also learn to incorporate principles of communication, problem-solving, adult education, and time management to provide holistic care of the patient throughout the surgical experience. This 13 unit course grants 195 CEUs at the completion of the course.
Nursing 214 - Specialized Nursing Skills
Nursing 214 is again being offered at El Camino College. This three unit course provides a variety of learning opportunities in one course for the registered nurse. Components include a course on the basic interpretation of EKGs, twelve-lead EKGs, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and pre and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Additionally, the course offers recertification for PALS and ACLS.
Nursing 216 - Emergency Room Nursing Course
Nursing 216 prepares registered nurses for beginning level practice in the emergency room of an acute care facility. The course will focus on basic pathophysiology and the standards of care to be delivered to a variety of emergent and trauma patients. Students are encouraged to complete an EKG course of dysrhythmias, as well as PALS and ACLS prior to starting the emergency room nursing course. Certificates for 11.5 units equal to 172.5 CEUs are awarded to students completing this course.
Nursing 218 - Critical Care Nursing Course
Nursing 218 offers registered nurses the opportunity to learn and apply evidenced-based practice, critical thinking and clinical decision making in the critical care environment. Objectives focus on the psychological, ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities required of the registered nurse employed in the critical care setting. Students earn 16 units and 195 CEUs for this course.
You are required to purchase books prior to the scheduled class session for ACLS, PALS, and NRP. It is critical that you read and study prior to coming to class. Courses are offered twice a year, druing the fall and spring sessions. Students may apply and register on-line by accessing El Camino College at www.elcamino.edu.
