Professor of English as a Second Language


Education: BA (Speech/English) California State University, Los Angeles; MA (Speech/Theatre Arts) California State University, Los Angeles; TESOL Certificate, California State University, Los Angeles.

Experience: Taught speech communication (debate) at California State University, Los Angeles and the University of Washington in Seattle. Taught speech communication to incoming at-risk college students at Orange Coast Community College; taught speech and ESL in Chicano Studies at Cerritos College; designed curriculum and taught ESL in a program geared to Cuban immigrants at El Camino College where he has taught full-time ESL, English composition and Chicano Literature from 1974 to the present.

Interesting Facts: Dan Houston is a writer who has published short stories. His primary interest as a writer is the exploration of the borderlands between cultures and the people living there struggling to find voices of their own.
