Experience: Directed the Basic Spanish Language Program and the Spanish for the Medical and Legal Professions at the University of Southern California for eight years. Has taught English as a Second Language full time at El Camino College since 1986. Has given papers at conferences in Venezuela and Puerto Rico, as well as in the U.S.
Interesting Facts: Nitza is very interested in cross-cultural
studies in the areas of nonverbal communication, customs and
traditions, medical folklore, and business communication. She has
been the recipient of several scholarships to do research in these
fields in Spain and Mexico. Nitza is the author of an intermediate
Spanish reader titled Contrastes. She is currently doing research
in the fields of testing and assessment, multicultural studies, and
the teaching of pronunciation to ESL students. She expects to
publish a book in this area in the near future. Her hobbies include
studying languages, reading contemporary fiction and participating
in water sports.
