Evelyne Charvier-Berman has been a member of the Foreign Language Department at El Camino College since 1985. Before coming to El Camino, she taught at Lycée Pasteur, Besançon France, Jefferson High School in Los Angeles and UCLA.
She received her "license" (B.A.) and "maîtrise"(M.A.) in English Language and Literature from the Université Stendhal, Grenoble, France. After coming to the USA, she pursued her studies in French and holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in French from UCLA.
Professor Charvier-Berman currently teaches French language, culture and literature courses. She has published articles on Stendhal and Maupassant, has presented at numerous conferences nationwide and co-authored the first-year college French text A l'aventure.
She is a member of CLTA, MCLASC, AATF, CCCFLC and SWCOLT.
