Tom Fonte

Tom Fonte

Dr. Fonte attained the Ph.D. in Spanish and the M.A. in Latin American Studies at the University of Wisconsin Madison.  He has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Latin America, including a year in Argentina on a Fulbright scholarship.  Before El Camino College, his main teaching assignments were at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, William Woods and Westminster Colleges in Fulton, Missouri and the University of California Santa Barbara, where he was in charge of the first two years of Spanish instruction, supervising and training the teaching assistants.  His other work experience was as an ESL instructor, a translator, medical interpreter and tour guide/teacher for student tours in Spain.  In addition to Spanish he has studied Portuguese extensively and is also fluent in Italian.  Travel, music, art, photography, computers, creative writing and electronics are a few of his interests.
