Family and Consumer Studies 3 Family and Consumer Studies Introduction to Macintosh

In this course the student is introduced to the basic operation of the Macintosh computer. The software learned in this course will be reinforced in Family and Consumer Studies project assignments.

Family and Consumer Studies 20 Textiles
3 units; 3 hours lecture Recommended Preparation: eligibility for English 84 Credit, degree applicable Transfer CSU, UC
This introductory course covers characteristics of textiles for Family and Consumer Studies majors. Students are introduced to: various fibers, yarn types, fabrication, coloring, printing and finishing methods. Selection, use and care of textiles are emphasized.

Family and Consumer Studies 38 Consumer Economics
3 units; 3 hours lecture Recommended Preparation: eligibility for English 84 Credit, degree applicable Transfer CSU
This course is a study of the marketplace and its impact on consumer choices, values and spending habits. Topics include: money management, influences of legislation and inflation, use of credit, transportation, housing, health care, taxes, insurance, investments and retirement.
