Welcome to Girls in the Garage!

Girls in the Garage is a series of free hands-on automotive and technology
workshops for women held about once a month during spring and fall semesters.
Girls in the Garage was started in December, 2010, by Pati Fairchild, an
Auto Collision instructor here at El Camino College, to show ladies that learning
more about auto maintenance and repair does not have to be scary - as a matter of fact, it’s pretty awesome!

Previous tech topics have included welding and soldering, automotive fluids,
engine and drive-train basics, jumper cable use, buying and changing tires,
windshield replacement, dent removal, headlight restoration, pinstriping,
custom painting, and even a scavenger hunt at a junkyard!

Big News logo
In March, Girls in the Garage is planning its biggest event yet - a car show and
vintage fashion exchange! In honor of Women’s History Month, all women are
invited to attend, with or without their cars, and see how fashion and car design
have changed over the years. The challenge for those bringing cars is to dress
like the year of your car.
