AEROSPACE MANUFACTURING EDUCATION (AME)
AME Industry Advisory Committee
The rapid pace of product development and technological innovation often results in a gap between what is being taught in educational institutions and what is required by industry. The Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) was established through the Aerospace Automation Consortium to work toward closing this gap to deliver a skilled, knowledgeable, work-ready individual.
The IAC is responsible for identifying and validating competency gaps, defining the body of knowledge needed to address the competency gaps, identifying existing and near-future technologies that must be addressed, reviewing plans and completed work, recommending additional committee members, and identifying additional educational institutions to assist in the delivery of the developed curricula. Committee volunteers have accepted the responsibility of meeting in person or by teleconference three to four times each year to accomplish these tasks. They have also volunteered their facilities for student and faculty internships and other related, yet undefined program activities.
