The aerospace manufacturing education project is hosted at El Camino College in Southern California, with education and industry partners located near aerospace manufacturing centers nationally. As PI, dean emeritus Way is responsible for the daily operation of the project, provides direction to senior personnel, administers the project budget, coordinates with industry partners and meets reporting requirements to NSF.

Co-Principle Investigator – John Anderson, john.anderson@oit.edu

As Co-PI, professor Anderson participated in the writing and reporting activities for the grant. He met with faculty supporting aerospace companies in Georgia and Texas and conducted surveys and focus groups involving more than 100 technicians and engineers. He presented a paper describing the project to the American Society of Engineering Educators in June 2007.

Co-Principle Investigator – Brad Harriger, bcharrig@purdue.edu

As Co-PI, Professor Harriger supervises graduate students assigned to the project and coordinates the contribution of other Purdue faculty with participating aerospace companies. He participated in the survey of industry personnel and is working on the development of curriculum modules.

Senior Personnel – Ed Lugo, ed.lugo@ngc.com

Mr. Lugo has more than 20 years experience as a manufacturing engineer in the aerospace industry and has taught computer aided design and tool design as an adjunct faculty member for more than 15 years. He serves as the liaison to the industry advisory committee and facilitates peer review of curricula by industry professionals.

Senior Personnel – Marty Mechsner, mjmechsner@charter.net

Mr. Mechsner is a certified manufacturing engineer, a company owner and the president of an industry association, the Small Manufacturer’s Institute. He serves as the Industry Project Coordinator, facilitating workshops and dissemination activities.
