The mission of the El Camino College (ECC) Police Training Program is to train potential Law Enforcement candidates to meet established California Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) guidelines.
The Director, supervisors, instructors and support staff of the ECC Police Training Program recognize their crucial role and responsibility in molding future police officers. With this goal, the ECC Police Training Program is commited to offering the most relevant, current and comprehensive training available.

This program is designed to prepare cadets for the varied challenges that are presented to them in the Career of Law Enforcement.
This education includes but is not limited to:
Classroom Training covers arrest procedures, investigation techniques, communications, report writing, search and seizure, evidence, laws of arrest, crimes against persons and property, sex crimes, crimes against children, and other general criminal statutes falling under the California Penal Code, Welfare and Institutions Code, and Federal Laws. Additionally, training includes cultural diversity training, sexual harassment training, media relations, stress management, disability awareness, community relations, tactical communications, hate crimes, missing persons, and domestic violence.
Tactics covers patrol techniques and procedures, crimes in progress, building searches, vehicle stops, use of deadly force, and shooting policy.
Firearms Training includes weapon care, safety, marksmanship, and chemical agents.
Physical Training builds strength and endurance through physical conditioning while promoting a positive attitude toward a healthy lifestyle.
Defensive Tactics develop knowledge and practical skills in the area of physical arrest techniques, control, and weaponless defense.
