Catalog Description:
    This course is a continuation of arithmetic and is designed to develop number and operation sense using decimals and percents and to develop problem solving skills using proportions. Topics include writing decimals in various forms, estimation, ratios, and application..

Course Objectives and Methods of Evaluation:
  1. Course objectives (list the major objectives stated as student outcomes in behaviorally measurable terms.)
    1. Express decimals in standard and written form
    2. Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate powers of decimals using order of operations
    3. Use rounding to estimate results from operations with decimals
    4. Order given decimals from smallest to largest
    5. Perform conversions among decimals, fractions, and percentages
    6. Write ratios and unit rates
    7. Solve proportions
    8. Solve percentage equations of the type A = RB
    9. Solve various application problems involving decimals, proportions, and percentages
  1. Methods of Evaluation - Non-Degree Credit Course
    1. Computational or non-computational problem-solving demonstrations, including: exam, quizzes, homework problems, and individual and group activities.
