Goals

The primary goal of the Mathematics Department Student Services Program is to assist students in becoming independent learners and achieve academic success.

To help students succeed in their classes, the Mathematical Sciences Student Services program has established various types of math centers in order to assist students with different learning styles. One such center is the Math-Sciences Multimedia Computer Lab (MCS 8) which provides tutorial and application software for many courses and the tools necessary to complete various math and science course assignments.

Program Description

The network of math student service centers has been established to provide positive guidance and assistance toward the development of math skills and study skills, they are not replacements for classroom instruction. The math tutoring services are FREE.

To receive the most benefit from this free service, it is recommended that students visit the centers at least once a week rather than visiting just before a test.

The Drop-in Computer Lab is available to all El Camino College students, but only math and science projects may be printed. Please note that since this lab is set up for the Division of Mathematical Sciences and some Departments in the Division of Natural Sciences, software used by other divisions may not be available. The Math-Sciences Multimedia Computer Lab is located in the basement of the Math and Computer Science building, Room MCS 8.

The time to get help in Math is BEFORE you think you need help. DROP IN EARLY AND OFTEN!
