My passion for teaching began while completing a Ph.D. in Geology at Washington State University. I began my teaching career as a graduate teaching-assistant at WSU and have taught at Weber State University, Cypress College, and El Camino College. I currently teach lecture and lab courses in Physical Geology and Oceanography at Cypress College and El Camino College.
My geological interests include: Physical Geology, Oceanography, Plate Tectonics, Neotectonics, GIS applications applied to Geology, Satellite image interpretation of the Earth’s geological materials and structures, and GPS monitoring of plate movement on regional and local scales.
I have traveled throughout most of the western US, as well as China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Israel. I also spent two years living in Guatemala. During the summer of 2007 I traveled to Japan and climbed Mt Fuji.
I like to collect “sand” and prefer to spend my free time reading (i.e., learning), camping, hiking, and biking almost anywhere, but especially throughout the State and National Parks of the Western U.S. My 1984 Toyota Camry has 275,000+ miles and it still gets 30 mpg.
