Biology 11 Fundamentals of Zoology

This is an introductory zoology course dealing with protists through vertebrates using representative forms to emphasize the principles of structure, function, classification, genetics, life cycles, life histories, embryology, behavior, and relationships of organisms.
Biology 12 Field Zoology
4 units: 2 hr. lecture, 6 hr. lab Recommended preparation: eligibility for English 2R Credit, degree applicable Transfers to CSU
Emphasis in this course is given to local animal species. Lectures on animal life histories, descriptions, conservation, and local ecological niches. Laboratory and limited field work is included.
Biology 16 Field Entomology
4 units: 2 hr. lecture, 6 hr. lab Recommended preparation: eligibility for English 2R Credit, degree applicable Transfers to CSU, UC
Survey course in insect biology with an emphasis on recognition and identification of common, locally occurring species. Lecture covers insect structure; classification with an emphasis on important families; economic importance; insect ecology; and insect control. Laboratory time and limited field work will be spent in the collection, preparation, and identification of specimens.
