Counselors and Specialists are available daily by appointments to assist students to identify reasonable academic accommodations. The professional staff will be able to assist and/or make referrals regarding the implemenation of accommodations on a semester by semester basis.
General Description of Services
Participation in the Special Resource Center is voluntary. For those students who choose to identify with the SRC and qualify for services work with the staff to determine appropriate and reasonable academic accommodations. The following services are examples of support services available to students with verified disability. Priority registration, academic counseling, career counseling, personal counseling, program planning, test accommodations, service orientaiton, liaison services, referrals, Braille transcription, parking information, notetaking paper, assessment, equipment loan for the day, alternate media services to include close captioning, and a variety of assistive technologies.
Getting Started at ECC SRC
It is easy to become a student receiving services from the SRC
1. Apply to the College via internet or in person...complete the college application form.
2. Complete the College placement tests and remember to keep the results - you will want to bring these to your counseling appointment.
3. Make an appointment with the SRC Counseling Staff to complete disability verification process and service packaging.
Before services can be rendered each SRC student needs to have documentation that has been verified eligible to receive services. This determination of eligibility is completed during your meeting with a Counselor or Specialist. During your first meeting with a counselor or specialist you will be asked for documentation and/or permission for the SRC to receive documentation of your disability.
Vocational counseling and job skill development is provided in a variety of ways. Some wouold be via direct counseling, through career courses, on-job training, or in concert with other offices or community resources.
