Scholarships are an ideal way to support student success at El Camino College.

Scholarships assist students with tuition and textbook expenses and can be set up for current El Camino College students or students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution. The El Camino College Foundation has numerous established scholarships to which donors may contribute or we can work directly with individuals interested in establishing a new scholarship.
The Foundation Scholarship Program
The newest scholarship program designed to meet the needs of El Camino College’s diverse student population is The Foundation Scholarship Program.
Our commitment is to establish 80 new scholarships and distribute a minimum of $100,000 per year for the next 10 years. The scholarships will not only assist with, but in many cases, fully cover tuition, fees and textbooks. This is what sets The Foundation Scholarship Program apart from any other.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to The Foundation Scholarship Program, there are many different scholarship opportunities:
Endowment Policy An endowment is a gift of financial resources that provides a stable base for funding. Endowment should be invested for long-term growth with the intent that these funds will produce an annual income stream.
Types of Endowment: Permanent Endowment: The principal is kept in tact in perpetuity. The income generated by the principal, or some portion of that income, may be spent each year.
Quasi-Endowment: Acts as a permanent endowment, but the principal may be invaded. The power must be granted in the agreement creating the endowment. With the approval of the donor, the Board of Directors may designate a current gift as a quasi-endowment.
Liquidating or Term Endowments: An endowment that has a limited life. In some cases, the fund will make annual payments like a permanent endowment and distribute the principal at the end of the fund's life. In other cases, both principal and income are distributed annually so that the fund will be slowly liquidated, leaving a principal balance of zero at the end of its term.
