President's Message
Welcome to El Camino College!El Camino College recently celebrated the 64th Annual Commencement Ceremony. This event is an annual reflection of El Camino College students’ commitment to attaining their individual goals.
Our annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony is a wonderful tribute to student success. This year the El Camino College Foundation Scholarship Program awarded nearly 330 scholarships totaling more than $350,000 to students attending El Camino College or transferring to a four-year college or university.
We congratulate and celebrate the achievements of graduates including Brett Lopez and Mario Cabrera, two aerospace engineering majors who each secured $10,500 scholarships from the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA)-National Science Foundation. Radiological technology student Nghi Le Trinh recently became the fifth recipient of the Dr. Nadine Hata Memorial Scholarship, a tenacious accomplishment, as she returned to college after setting aside academics to help support her family.
Seventeen students in the Honors Transfer Program (HTP) recently presented research projects at a statewide student research conference. Special recognition goes to Solimar Flowers, who won the Exemplary Achievement Scholarship, one of only 20 awarded statewide. We are also proud of the prevailing El Camino College forensics and journalism programs, which both brought home awards of excellence from national competitions this past spring.
Congratulations to the Class of 2011! Approximately 1,450 students met the requirements to participate in El Camino College’s 2011 Commencement. All were awarded associate degrees or certificates. We are proud of our students’ hard work and dedication, and are inspired by their commitment to excellence. We wish our graduates all the best in their future endeavors.
