Steve Shaw - Head Coach

Head Coach Staeve Shaw begins his tenth season with the women's basketball program.  During his first nine years, he has been named Coach of the Year three times, most recently in 2005 when the Warriors won their first conference championship in school history.  Under his guidance, the program has become a regular contender for the conference championship and state playoffs.

Shaw grew up in the South Bay and was an all-league basketball and volleyball player at Aviation High School.  He focused on basketball as a student at El Camino College and earned All-Conference honors two times (1975-76) and received All-State recognition after his sophomore season.  He was a starter on an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight team his senior year at California State University, Fullerton.

Shaw received his bachelor's degree in physical education from California State University, Fullerton and his teaching credential from California State University, Fullerton and his teaching credential and master's in physical education from California State University, Dominguez Hills.  He has taught at Redondo Union High School for 23 years.  During his time there he coached boys basketball, as well as boys and girls volleyball and softball.  In addition, he served as athletic director.

He is married to Aida and they have two teenage daughters, Erica and Carla.

Mike Houck - Assistant Coach

Michael Houck returns as assistant coach for his tenth season.  He has worked closely with Coach Shaw the past nine years in the development of the Warrior women's basketball program and its student-athletes.  Coach Shaw regards Houck as another head coach as he takes responsibility for a lot of the on-court coaching.  He is greatly respected among his coaching peers.

Houck played for Shaw at Redondo Union High School (1987-89).  As one of the top multi-sport athletes to come out of the South Bay, he earned All-Area and All-CIF honors in basketball and was drafted as a pitcher by the Houston Astros in 1989.

Houck also attended El Camino College where he played both basketball and baseball.  As a starting guard for the Warriors, the team went to the state championships both season (1990-91).  Houck was named an All-South Coast Conference selection in 1991.  He transferred to Chaminade University (Hawaii) and was named to the Great Northwest Conference Team.  Houck played his senior season at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (1993-94).
