Season Ends For D'Angelo At State

DAngeloSophomore Michael D'Angelo (Redondo Union High School) represented the El Camino golf team at the State Championships Monday at Victoria Country Club in Riverside, Calif.

D'Angelo shot a 75 (+3) in round one and an 86 (+14) in the second round of the tournament for a 161 total and 42nd place overall.

Sidney Wolf from College of the Canyons was the individual medalist shooting a 139 (-5) over 36 holes.

Canyons and Riverside City College tied for the team title after 36 holes so the tiebreaker was the sixth golfer on each team which gave Riverside its first-ever team title.

 


D'Angelo Advances To State

Results

dangeloSophomore Michael D'Angelo (Redondo Union HS) finished second out of individual qualifiers at the men's golf Southern California Regionals on Monday at StoneRidge Country Club in Poway, Calif.

By shooting a 148 (74, 74) he earned a berth to the state tournament on May 12 at Victoria Country Club in Riverside, Calif.

D'Angelo finished just two shots behind the top individual qualifier, Spencer Wilde from Cypress College.

Kyle Alexander also competed for ECC shooting a 161 (82, 79).

Sydney Wolf was the low scorer for the tournament from College of the Canyons shooting a 136.

The top two teams also earned a berth into the state tournament. College of the Canyons won the team title with a 723 and Riverside City College also advanced by shooting a 738.

 

 


D'Angelo Wins PCAC Title

DAngeloSophomore Michael D'Angelo (Redondo Union HS) won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Individual Men's Golf Title after two rounds on Monday at the Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside, Calif.

D'Angelo shot a 76 in the morning round and came back in the afternoon with a 68 for a 144 total to defeat Kazufumi Saki from College of the Desert, the PCAC Player of the Year, by one stroke.

College of the Desert won the team title with a 761. COD along with second-place Palomar (769) and third-place Cuyamaca (776) will advance to Regionals on May 5 at StoneRidge Country Club in Poway, Calif.

ECC finished fourth (800), Victory Valley was fifth (857) and Mt. San Jacinto was disqualified due to a low number of players.

The top 14 individuals advance to Regionals as well which includes D'Angelo and teammate Kyle Alexander.

D'Angelo earned All-PCAC honors by finishing fourth on the season decided by his scoring average.

Alexander finished second for the Warriors at the match with a 160 followed by Zach Uriarte (165), Kyle Murao (166), Joey Bichlmeier (166) and Kevin Oshiro (169).


 

Warriors Third In Final Match

MuraoThe El Camino golf team concluded the regular season with its second-best team score of the year, a 392, to place third among the six conference teams on Wednesday at Soboba Springs Country Club.

Kyle Murao finished in the top 10 with a 75 to lead the Warriors. Kyle Alexander and Michael D'Angelo were just one stroke back (76). Kevin Oshiro posted an 81 followed by Zach Uriarte (84) and Joey Bichlmeier (89), respectively.

Palomar took the team title with a 373 and had the low round from Brian Cole (71). College of the Desert was second (381), followed by ECC, Cuyamaca (395), Mt. San Jacinto (402) and Victor Valley (416).

The teams will next compete at the PCAC Tournament on April 28.

 

 


Alexander Leads Warriors To Solid Score

AlexanderKyle Alexander (73) placed just two strokes off of Kelly Cannon from Palomar, the individual winner (71), at a conference match at Desert Island Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on Monday.

College of the Desert won the team title with a 377 while the Warriors posted one of their best scores of the season (395) to finish fourth.

Michael D'Angelo (76) was second on the team followed by Kyle Murao (80), Zach Uriarte (81), Joey Bichlmeier (85) and Kevin Oshiro (89).

Palomar was second in the team standings at 378 with Cuyamaca in third (392), ECC in fourth (395), Mt. San Jacinto fifth (410) and Victor Valley sixth (421).

 


Warriors Fourth In Conference Match

teamThe El Camino golf team battled wind and heavy rain in their conference match at Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside, Calif., on Wednesday. Despite the tough conditions, the Warriors posted a solid score of 402 to finish in fourth in the team standings.

Michael D'Angelo was the low scorer on the day for ECC with a 76. Kyle Alexander (78), Kyle Murao (79), Zach Uriarte (84), Kevin Oshiro (85) and Joey Bichlmeier (87) rounded out the Warrior team.

Cuyamaca won the team title with a 387. Palomar came in second at 384 followed by College of the Desert (391), ECC (402) and Victor Valley (420). Mt. San Jacinto was unable to finish.

Bryce Haynes from Palomar was the low scorer with a 69.


Murao Leads Warriors With 77

March 24, 2014


MuraoKyle Murao was the top finisher for the El Camino golf team on Monday at Palos Verdes Golf Course with a 77. It was an overcast day and higher scores than normal were seen in the six-team field in which College of the Desert won the team title with a 390.

The Warriors finished fourth with a 405 on the par-71 course. Joey Bichlmeier was second with an 82 followed by Kevin Oshiro and Kyle Alexander with 82's. Michael D'Angelo shot an 83 and Zach Uriarte posted an 89, respectively.

The individual winners were Christian Rajcic and Kazu Saki of COD and Kelly Cannon of Palomar who each shot a 75 (+4). Murao tied for fourth.

Cuyamaca was second in the team standings at 398 followed by Palomar (400), El Camino (405), Victor Valley (432) and Mt. San Jacinto (436).


Alexander Leads Warriors With Fourth Place Finish

Kyle Alexander was low scorer for the El Camino golf team shooting a 73 on Wednesday at Twin Oaks Golf Course. The Warriors shot 394 as a team which was good enough for fourth place.

Alexander tied for fourth and was just two shots off of the winner, Aaron Whiteley from Palomar.

College of the Desert won the team title with 365 followed by Palomar (376), Cuyamaca (386), El Camino (394), Mt. San Jacinto (415) and Victor Valley (424).

Kyle Murao was second for the Warriors with a 76. Michael D'Angelo shot a 78 followed by Kevin Oshiro (83), Joey Bichlmeier (84) and Zach Uriarte (85), respectively.


D'Angelo Ties For Ninth With A 76

March 12, 2014

Michael D'Angelo tied for ninth with a 76 to lead the Warriors to a fourth-place finish in a six team tournament at Sycuan Resort in El Cajon, Calif., hosted by Cuyamaca.

College of the Desert won the team title with a 370. Palomar was second (378) followed by Cuyamaca (386), El Camino (403), Victor Valley (409) and Mt. San Jacinto (419).

Kyle Alexander finished second for the Warriors with a 79. Kevin Oshiro posted an 81 followed by Joey Bichlmeier (83), Kyle Murao (84) and Zach Uriarte (85).

Kazu Sakai was the individual medalist from COD with a 68.


D'Angelo Places Ninth In Poway

March 10, 2014

Michael D'Angelo posted a 77 to tie for ninth and the Warriors posted a team score of 415 to finish fourth in a six-team tournament at StoneRidge CC in Poway, Calif.

Kyle Alexander was second for the Warriors with 78 followed by Kyle Murao (85), Zach Uriarte (86), Joey Bichlmeier (89) and Kevn Oshiro (92).

College of the Desert won the team title with a 364 and Chris Cotton won the individual title from COD with a 71.

Cuyamaca College was second (386) with Palomar in third (393), ECC in fourth, Victor Valley (420) in fifth and Mt. San Jacinto in sixth (429), respectively.


Men's Golf Fourth At Spring Valley Lakes CC

Feb. 24, 2014

The men's golf team finished fourth out of six teams on Feb. 24 at Spring Valley Lakes Country Club with a team score of 391.

College of the Desert took the team title with a 358 followed by Cuyamaca (378), Palomar (380), El Camino, Mt. San Jacinto (403) and Victor Valley (414).

Four Warriors tied for the top spot on the team with a 77: Kyle Alexander, Michael D'Angelo, Kevin Oshiro and Joey Bichlmeier. Zach Uriarte shot an 83 and Kyle Murao carded an 86, respectively.


D’Angleo Leads Men’s Golf at Eagle Golf Classic

Feb. 21, 2014

Sophomore Michael D’Angelo posted a 75 to earn a top 10 finish at the Eagle Golf Classic at Soboba Springs on Feb. 21 to lead the El Camino men’s golf team.

The Warriors posted a 411 team score and finished 14th at the tournament. Kyle Murao was second for the Warriors with an 80 followed by Kyle Alexander (84), Kevin Oshiro (85), Joey Bichlmeier (87) and Zach Uriarte (93), respectively.

Santiago Canyon College took the team title with a score of 360. Nico Mendoza and Jonathan Collins tied for the individual title from Santiago Canyon with 70’s.
