Golf Fifth In Conference Opener

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – The ECC men's golf team finished in fifth place out of six teams in the PCAC opener on Monday at Spring Valley Lakes Country Club in Victorville.

The Warriors shot 418 as a team led by Michael Ozawa (North Torrance HS) with a 77.

Zach Uriarte shot an 80 followed by Kevin Oshiro (810), Jared Gallardo (85), Travis Nagaoka (95) and Alyssa Rocha (97), respectively.

Palomar and COD each shot a 376 as a team. Palomar's Mitchell Kwee took the individual title with a 70.

The Warriors compete at Torrey Pines on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.


Ozawa Leads Warriors At Soboba Springs

SAN JACINTO, Calif. – The ECC golf team finished non-conference play finishing 16th at the Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto on Wednesday.

The Warriors shot 448 as a team led by freshman Michael Ozawa (North Torrance HS) with an 80. Sophomore Kevin Oshiro (North Torrance HS) was a close second with an 84.

Jared Gallardo (93), Alyssa Rocha (94) and Zach Uriarte (97) and Travis Nagaoka (97) completed the ECC lineup.

Orange Coast College won the team title shooting a 359. Myles Valentine for the Pirates shot a 68.

The Warriors start conference play at Spring Valley Lakes on Feb. 23.


Warriors Complete Two-Day Tournament

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The El Camino College golf team played a two-day tournament at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills on Monday and Wednesday.

The Warriors shot a 415 in round one on the South Course and a 417 on the North Course in round two for a combined score of 832.

Sophomore Kevin Oshiro (West Torrance HS) shot an 83 in round one and a 77 to lead the Warriors on day two.

Michael Ozawa (North Torrance HS) was second on the team, shooting an 81/82.

Cody Nakazaki (North Torrance HS) shot an 81 on the South Course. Travis Nagaoka (North Torrance HS) played round two shooting an 89.

Zach Uriarte (North Torrance HS) was next for the Warriors with an 87 and an 82.

Shooting an 83/87 was freshman Jared Gallardo (Mira Costa HS).

Freshman Alyssa Rocha (North Torrance HS) shot rounds of 102/97.

The Warriors will compete Feb. 18 at Saboba Spring Golf Club.


Warriors Ninth In Opening Tournament

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – The El Camino College golf team opened the season in a best ball tournament at Spring Valley Lakes Country Club in Victorville, Calif., on Monday.

The Warriors finished ninth out of 10 teams shooting a 227.

Kevin Oshiro and Cody Nakazaki had the best round for ECC, shooting a 71. Zach Uriarte and Michael Ozawa came in with a 74. The final duo of Alyssa Rocha and Jared Gallardo shot an 82.

Riverside City College won the team title with a 191 and its duo of Wes Hatton and Cody Medlin shot a 62 for first place.

The Warriors are at Los Serranos on Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.
