About the Program
El Camino started it Men's Soccer program in 1977 with current coach John Britton as a member of the 1978 squad, in which they reached the State Championships. Since that jump start to its program, El Camino has maintained this high standard and won several State, Conference and Tournament Championship Final along the way. The program has produced several professional players who have competed on teams all over the world. Two of the most recent graduates to the professional ranks are Sheldon Thomas (Trinidad and the LA Galaxy) and Antonio Martinez (currently with Chivas USA). Both these players received scholarships to move on to 4-year universities, joining many former ECC players who received similar scholarships, to aid them in continuing their careers as scholar-athletes.
The soccer program is proud of its successes on the field but is equally proud of the players who graduate and move on to complete their education at 4-year universities. One of the roles of the soccer coaching staff is to facilitate this transfer and we are pleased to help all our players, complementing the help provided by our specialist counselors. For a school which caters to all its scholar athletes, you need look no further than El Camino College.
