Here's a challenge for community college and university students who are interested in science, engineering , technology and, especially, robotics.
FIRST ANNUAL CALIFORNIA VEX COLLEGE CHALLENGE -- CALIFORNIA'S FIRST VEX ROBOTICS COMPETITION FOR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS - SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 2010 AT CSU, NORTHRIDGE
Colleges and universities can register their teams with VEX national on this page (robotevents.com). Cost: $75 for the first team and $25 for each additional team.
The California VEX Robotics College Challenge Championship (based on the VEX "Clean Sweep" game) will take place on the campus of CSU, Northridge on Saturday, March 13, 2010.
A separate registration fee of $100 per team is charged for the California competition. This fee can be paid at the site above, using a credit card, or during the registration process, an opportunity to mail the registration.
Winners of this California State Championship event will be eligible to participate in the 2010 VEX Robotics College Challenge World Championship (April 22-24 in Dallas, TX).
In preparing for the California competition, college and university teams will aim to build the most innovative robots possible (from VEX kits) and work together to score the most points possible, on a 12'X12' playing field.
College and university teams are their "own" alliance, meaning each team will consist of two team-built robots.

When this page opens, scroll down a little and click on the video clip. This 4-minute clip will show and tell you a good bit about VEX Robotics Competitions and give you a glimpse of the 2008-2009 International Championship event in Dallas, TX. Most of the information is about middle and high schools, but there is little about a New Zealand university team that participated in the pilot VEX College Challenge in 2009. |

Northern Cal University Tour April 12-15, 2010The STEM Grant Project sponsors a fun-filled academic tour to the following Northern California Universities: UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, UC Davis & Santa Clara University on April 12-15, 2010 Students interested should download and print the application to the right of this page, or pick up an application at one of the following locations: Transfer Center, Natural Science Division, MESA Center or Industry Technology Division.
