MAIDEN VOYAGE
Under the leadership of saxophonist
Ann Patterson,

Maiden Voyage has become one of
the most talked-about big bands around. Begun in 1980 in a traditionally
male-dominated jazz world, the Los Angeles-based band quickly outgrew
the novelty of being an all women's band, achieving a high level
of respect from musicians, critics and audiences alike. Leonard
Feather hailed Maiden Voyage as "...not just the best orchestra
of its sex, but one of the most rewarding bands on the present scene."
