Three exemplars of one of the world�s great acoustic guitar traditions conjure up soundscapes of the Islands. The first woman to be included in U.S. Hawaiian Slack Key tours � Princess Owana Salazar (a descendant of King Kamehameha) � is joined by George, Keoki, and Garrett Kahumoku, and Daniel Ho.

Korea's master drum and dance ensemble is "a complete theatrical experience" (New York Times). Since its founding in 1978 SamulNori has given over 1800 performances around the world. These virtuoso percussionists offer "an experience that matches unsparing energy and technical mastery with a strong sense of spirituality" (Los Angeles Times).

TARAF DE HAIDOUKS GYPSY BAND
A"Extraordinary musical alchemy" (The Times of London).
Capturing the essence of Gypsy music, this village band from Clejani, Romania, creates "extraordinary musical alchemy" (The Times of London). Discovered by two young Belgian music fans in 1990, the band is now known throughout Europe, but is making only its second U.S. tour in spring 2001.

Folklorist Moloney formed his festival in 1978 for the Smithsonian Institution to showcase some of Irish America's finest musicians and dancers, many of whom went on to international fame. Revel in America's original Celtic celebration as slow airs, jigs, reels and hornpipes are accompanied by virtuoso performances by World Champion step dancers
