*Placement fee and deposit must be paid to SIH on the day you arrive by cash or traveler's checks.  The first month rent must be paid to your host family directly. Credit card payment is accepted only on-line before your arrival.

Information About Apartments:
Usually, you will fill out an apartment application form and pay an application fee.  It is normal for the landlord to require first month's rent, a refundable security deposit (minimum one month’s rent) and a cleaning deposit.  Utilities (water, gas, electricity) may or may not be included in your rent.  You may wish to rent month-to-month as opposed to leasing a unit for one year.

Note About Homestay Programs:

If you wish to live with an American family, we highly recommend you apply to a Homestay program.  For a fee, a company will match you with a pre-screened, compatible family. All of these companies have their own rules and regulations.  Applications must be submitted directly to the company and be processed before your arrival.  Payment for the application fee and security deposit is often required when you submit an application.  Some of these companies require full payment in advance or the day you arrive.  Please read their information and application form carefully.  If you have questions, please contact the person listed for each agency.
