Southern California
Located on the same parallel as Casablanca in Morocco, beautiful Pacific beaches and fabulous weather make Southern California a popular tourist destination. The average rainfall per year is about 15 inches and the annual average high temperature for the city is 75°F (24°C), while the average low is 57°F (14°C).
Los Angeles is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world with restaurants, famous landmarks, international venues, and enough activities for everyone from surfing to skiing. Most every country, culture and religion is represented in Southern California. There are museums of art, science and culture. The shopping is also world class whether you are on a budget or are ready to splurge - there are plenty of stores and shopping areas to chose from.
The amusement parks in Southern California are the best in the world. Disneyland, Universal Studios and Knott’s Berry Farm are all within an hour’s drive. Six Flags Magic Mountain, Wild Animal Park and Sea World are between one and two hours drive. Although it may be hard to believe one place can have it all, Southern California also has the mountain resorts of Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear; with sightseeing plus downhill and cross-country skiing just a few hours away.
If all of Southern California's attractions are still not enough, there are many day trips and overnight trips within the Southwest of the United States. Las Vegas is a four-hour drive by car or a fifty-minute flight. Tickets are reasonably priced, as low as $80 round trip from LAX. San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain (a popular ski resort) and Yosemite National Park are about six or seven hours away by land and 1 hour by air. El Camino College and Southern California are waiting for you - we welcome you and hope to see you soon.
