Women's History Month 2011
March is Women’s History Month

“Our History is Our Strength”
A variety of events are planned at El Camino College to celebrate Women’s History Month throughout March. The overarching theme for March 2011 is: “Our History is Our Strength.” All events are free and open to the public.
Upcoming Events
Eva Brown-Reflections on Her Life
March 1 ~ 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Library, Distance Education Room 166
Mrs. Eva Brown was a Holocaust survivor who spoke at El Camino College and throughout the community about her experiences. Her most important message was one of tolerance – she spoke to young children and adults about the importance of living together peacefully and celebrating our differences. Mrs. Brown passed away in late December 2010, leaving many contributions to our college: she established the Eva Brown Fund through the El Camino College Foundation and also contributed books and memorabilia from her personal collection to establish the Eva Brown Peace and Tolerance Collection on display in the ECC Schauerman Library. We were also honored to have Mrs. Brown as the keynote speaker for commencement in 2006; her powerful story captivated the audience.
Women’s History Month luncheon
March 4 ~ noon to 1:30 p.m.
Alondra Room
Girls in the Garage – Workshop and Car Show
March 5 ~ 9:00-11:00 a.m.

All are invited to bring a car, friends and questions to “Girls in the Garage – Workshop and Car Show.” ECC autobody instructor Pati Fairchild and special guests from the Wrench Wenches and Gasoline Girls all-girl car clubs will be on hand to answer questions about automobile maintenance, repairs, and more!
