A little about myself: I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where I began my long college career at Kingsborough Community College. I also attended community colleges in Madison, Wisconsin, Redwood City, California and San Francisco before transferring to Sonoma State University in Northern California. After receiving my B.A. in History, and inspired by my first visit to Europe, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue graduate studies at UCLA. I earned my M.A. in Modern European History, and after spending a year and a half in Paris working on my dissertation research, I completed my Ph.D. at UCLA.
While a student at UCLA, I taught History as an adjunct instructor at various Los Angeles area colleges and universities including Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles Valley College, College of the Canyons, Occidental College, Loyola-Marymount University and Northridge State University. I began teaching at El Camino College in 1996 and was delighted to accept a full-time position here two years later.
I currently teach the World History surveys - Early Civilizations (History 140), Modern Civilization (History 141), and Twentieth-Century World History (History 143) - as well as the British History survey courses (History 162 and History 163) and History of World Religions (History 145).
