El Niño
“El Niño” is a warm ocean current that flows along the Equator and towards the west coast of
South America approximately every 5 years. With it often comes lots of rain. It has been nicknamed “El Niño” after the baby Jesus whose birth is celebrated during December because this is the time that it typically reaches the coast.
