Course Policies - Clinical Evaluation:

The hospital clinical experience will be graded on Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory basis.The clinical evaluation tool will be utilized for the twelve week clinical experience. Students are held responsible for competence in all previous objectives.  If practice or review is needed for any clinical skills the student is held responsible to seek assistance from the media/skills instructor. The student is required to update the skills check list (originating from N 150), using it as a guideline for self-assessment. The skills check list is to be submitted to the clinical instructor at the end of the clinical rotation.

Expected clinical behaviors and performance include and not limited to:

  • Upholding principles of veracity and respect
  • Adhering to National Patient Safety Goals
  • Prioritization of care for telemetry and critical care patients
  • Performing a comprehensive health assessment for all assigned patients
  • Communicating in SBAR format 
  • Completing a leadership assignement
  • Demonstrating ability to interpret lab and diagnostics
  • Safely performing medication administration  
  • Participating in Disaster Drill activities
  • Participating in simulation scenarios
