Microbiology 33 - General Microbiology
5 units: 3 hr. lecture, 6 hr. lab Prerequisite: Biology 10 or Anatomy 30 or Anatomy 32 or Physiology 31 or equivalent; and Chemistry 4 or Chemistry 20 or Chemistry 1A or Chemistry 21A or equivalent with a minimum grade of C in prerequisites Credit, degree applicable Transfers to CSU, UC (CAN BIOL 14)
This course is a study of fundamental techniques in the growth, culture, and identification of microorganisms. It also includes the study of microbial anatomy and physiology, classification, microbes in water, air, soil, food, sewage, and medical aspects of microbiology. Laboratory experiments are performed by students to reinforce principles of microbiology discussed in lecture. This course is designed for health related and pre-professional science majors.
Microbiology 99abc - Independent Study
1-3 units Enrollment limitation: one course in Microbiology/Biology with a minimum grade of B and acknowledgment by the instructor with whom the student will work Credit, degree applicable Tranfers to CSU
This course provides special advanced studies in a subject field of Microbiology. Regular conferences with the instructor are coordinated with assigned laboratory work and research projects (60 hr. per unit).
