This section describes and illustrates the progress of seven impassioned telescope makers on the fabrication of a 42-inch corrected Dall-Kirkham Cassegrain telescope by hand at El Camino College.  The project began in 1997 with an order for the primary mirror blank.  The optical design has dramatically improved since then (we had originally envisioned a fast, partially corrected Newtonian).  Optical component fabrication began with the corrector lenses in 2000.  The primary mirror blank that you see pictured here was finally completed in August of 2002, and work on it continues...
