Part 1: The purpose of this assignment is to improve the interaction between students. Go to our webboard (find it by clicking on TALK TO STUDENTS). See the Technology Manual for help. After you have registered and entered our webboard, post a message under the "Classroom Bulletin Board" heading. I am looking for a few sentences that tells us something about you - it could be basic information, it could be why you're taking this course, it could be a favorite joke or quote. This information will eventually go, along with your name & picture, on our web page, so keep it clean. You must also sign up for all the mailing lists on this webboard to maintain contact!

Part 2: The purpose of this assignment is to improve the interaction between students & myself. Please Email me your phone number & address (current and permanent). Also include a sentence or two as to why you're taking this class and what you hope to get out of it.

Part 3: This one isn't due this week. But, sometime during this semester, you must post something on the webboard pertaining to this class and your real life. Either something of geologic interest that you saw while hiking, travelling, or surfing, or something you saw on the news, or a great website you found (not one I've already listed). Not a dissertation, but a substantial paragraph. plus, you must respond to someone else's posted message, at least once. The purpose of this portion of the assignment is to try to connect you and geology and real life and the other students in the class.
