Welcome!
I have been teaching English full-time here at El Camino College
since 1988, and I love what I do: introducing students to readings
that inspire, provoke, and entertain. I also love helping students
to write, with feeling and conviction, and to discover their own
voice--and the power it can have.
Having
taught the full range of composition and creative writing classes,
I now generally teach English 1A, 1B, and 1C, including honors sections.
My favorite literature classes to teach include Film and Literature,
Survey of English Literature I and II, Shakespeare, Fiction (Short
Story and Novel), and Poetry. My writing background includes years
as a journalist on The Spectrum in Buffalo, New York.
As
co-author of Between Worlds, A Reader, Rhetoric, and Handbook (with
Melinda Barth), I welcome you to stop by our office at MBBM-104B
to talk about any of the readings or topics in the text.
When
I am not teaching, reading, or writing, I like traveling to new
destinations and camping in national parks with my three guys (husband
and two sons). Favorite activities include biking, hiking, swimming,
snorkeling, and moving to music.
