Hybrid Course Working Group
At the end of the 2004 Fall Semester, the Academic Senate decided that we should form a working group to define the term hybrid course in order to differentiate it from technology-enhanced instruction, distance education, and traditional course.

Academic Software ordered Mar. 05
Word came from ITS shortly before the purchasing deadline for this fiscal year that dollars remained for academic software purchase. ATC representatives worked feverishly to gather information on software licensing that needs to be upgraded by the beginning of the next fiscal and/or academic year. Click on the link below to see the results of their efforts.
Mar. 05 software purchases
ATC is soliciting 05-06 software needs!
Division representatives are being asked to submit academic software needs as soon as possible. Requests that are returned in time for Apr. 1st deadline might be purchased out of this year's dollars. Requests that come in too late, or which cost more than can be covered by remaining dollars will be included in 05-06 budget request. For additional information, contact Joe Georges (3686), Virginia Rapp (3773), or Susie Dever (3514).

ATC recommends BlackBoard
At the last meeting of the Fall semester, members of the ATC recommended that the college adopt BlackBoard for use by Distance Education and other course use.
At its Mar. 10th meeting, the ECC Technology Committee formally recommended that the college purchase the Enterprise version license to BlackBoard in time for Fall 05 semester use. The Enterprise version was selected so that BlackBoard can link directly to the college student data system and so that all faculty can use BlackBoard in their courses. The ECCTC included in their recommendation that staff be hired to assist with technical and operational support. The ATC seconded this recommendation at its Mar. 11th meeting.
Joe Georges named ATC faculty co-chair
Joe Georges has been named faculty co-chair of the Academic Technology Committee. He replaces Pete Marcoux and serves with the continuing administrative co-chair, Virginia Rapp, Dean of Business.
ECC implements website management changes
The college is now moving into full-scale implementation of OmniUpdate, a website editing and management system. The process is being expedited with the assistance of 2 new college employees - Melanie Graves, Web Master, and LaTonya Motley, Staff Development Trainer.
