The Schauerman Library Course Reserves Service supports the academic mission of El Camino College and acts as an extension of the classroom by providing access to supplementary course materials for specific classes.
Reserves in the Library may include physical or digital copies of textbooks and other supplementary course materials, available for a specified period. Reserve materials are provided to the Library by a class instructor or are purchased via special funding sources such as grants and donations.
The service is provided, upon instructor initiation, within the bounds of the fair
use guidelines of the Copyright Act as described in Title 17, United States Code.
This service is for the use of all faculty, students, and staff of El Camino College.
By using the Reserves service, students and faculty are agreeing to adhere to the
Library's Course Reserve Policy.
The Library has a special collection of select course textbooks, and other required readings, that may be borrowed for a short duration of time (typically 2 hours) and used within the boundaries of the Library. Due to funding and space limitations, not all course textbooks are available.
Reserve materials are checked out at the Periodicals/Reserves desk located on the main level of the Library in the East Reading Room. A current ECC photo ID is required for access to Reserve materials.
Faculty wishing to place materials on physical reserve should complete the Reserve
Request Form and submit it, along with the item(s), to the Library's Reserve department.
Please note that the Library is unable to accept instructor editions of textbooks
or other materials that might violate U.S. copyright laws. For more information, please
