Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA), sponsored by the J. Paul Getty Trust, is the world's most comprehensive bibliography of scholarly writing about the history of Western art. As of April 2010, it is available free of charge on the Getty Web site. Note that a database search includes both BHA (covering 1990-2007) and the International Bibliography of Art (IBA), covering the years 2008 and part of 2009.

JSTOR Arts and Sciences archive offers full-text back issues of scholarly journals primarily in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. This database also includes a selection of titles in the more science-oriented fields of ecology, mathematics, and statistics. For most of the journals, the time lag between the publication of the most current issue and content availability in JSTOR is 3 to 5 years.

Using the Magazine, Journal, and Newspaper databases should also be considered.
