Legal Research

A special collection of legal research publications, primarily purchased to support El Camino College's Paralegal Program,  is located in the Reference Room in the East Wing of the Main Floor of the Schauerman Library.  For further information about these materials, call the Reference Desk at 310-660-6483.

The Legislative Council of California's Website lets you search all the California law codes online. The California codes are also available in the Library's book collection, under the call number, Reference KFC 30.5 W4.

The California Office of Administrative Law offers an online version of the California Code of Regulations or the CCR. The CCR consists of regulations that have been adopted by over 200 state agencies. The regulations are divided into 28 titles dealing with a variety of concerns including education, building, motor vehicles, and public health and safety.

FindLaw provides a comprehensive set of Web-based legal resources.

The Lexis service offers full-text legal, legislative and regulatory information as well as court reporters, law digests, and patent abstracts. Access to this online service through El Camino College is reserved for students currently enrolled in the Paralegal Program. If you are a student enrolled in the program, please ask your instructor about access.

The California Attorney General's Office provides written opinions on various legal issues. The Opinions of the Attorney General of California may be searched from 1968 to the present.
