Databases - General Magazines, Journals, and Newspapers

 

(EBSCOHost) Academic Search Elite
The database focuses on providing full-text articles from peer-reviewed/scholarly journals. Articles can be e-mailed, downloaded to disk or printed out for $.10 a page using the copy card.

 

(EBSCOHost) Masterfile Premier
Offers many full-text magazine and journal articles, some from as far back as 1975 to the present. Articles can be e-mailed, downloaded to disk, or printed out for $.10 a page using the copy card.

 

ProQuest Newspapers
Provides full-text articles and abstracts from five national newspapers. Articles can be e-mailed, downloaded to disk, or printed out for $.10 a page using the copy card. The following newspapers are covered:
          -Los Angeles Times since 1985
          -New York Times (late East Coast edition) since 1980 
          -Wall Street Journal (East Coast edition) since 1984
          -Christian Science Monitor since 1988 (with some exceptions) 
          -Washington Post since 1987

 

Wilson OmniFile
Offers citations, abstracts, and full-text articles from six databases: Education, General Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, and popular magazines. Articles and citations can be downloaded to disk, e-mailed, or printed out for $.10 a page using the copy card.

  Full-Text Periodical Title Locator
When looking for a specific magazine, journal, or newspaper title, or for any periodical title that addresses a particular subject, use the locator to identify which ECC periodical database provides full-text online access to the periodical.

Note regarding paper issues: Current magazines and journals are on the east and south walls of the Reference Room; newspapers are on the racks in the middle of the floor. Back issues can be found at the Periodicals/Reserve Desk in the southwest corner of the Reference Room.
