CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT

 Megan McLean

MEGAN McLEAN
As candidate for President, Megan is ecstatic to be given the opportunity to represent the students attending El Camino. After one year of commitment with ASO, she feels she is ready to take the stand and be a leader for all. She currently holds the position of Student Services Officer, but also has actively taken position of Senator of Fine Arts. This year, she has attended nation-wide/state-wide conferences as a representative for El Camino and learned that other schools in our state and in the nation are having similar concerns on their campuses as well.(textbook costs, environmental issues, safety, etc.) She has grasped these ideas and has made a goal to act upon these issues, along with the rest of ASO. She is confident that she will adequately serve students and ASO members alike through her communicative skills to voice what's important and the determination to meet the needs of any concerns. As an active member of ASO, she also excels in academics as a member of the Honors Transfer Program and is a member of the First Year Experience. Lastly, she is extremely excited to start plans for next semester and hopes to have a very successful year.

CANDIDATE FOR VICE PRESIDENT

Ivana Poste

IVANA POSTE
Hello. My name is Ivana Poste and I am running for Vice President of the Associated Students Organization (ASO). As your Vice President I will try my best to always lend a helping hand to improve our campus and most importantly voice the student's opinions. As the student body Vice President, I will do my best to be the mediator between students and teachers for problem solving and academic issues. As you know one of the issues of El Camino College that concerns most of our students regards the library hours and as Vice President I will help improve this issue for students and extend the library hours. I will also like to help students in advancing their knowledge in campus resources and help them to make these resources more feasible for students. For instance, we have the writing center, where I believe half the students that need tutorial help are not aware of. Some students might not even be aware of our tutorial center in the library that might help tutor our students in any subject. My ambition is to bring up these important issues to any meetings I attend and I expect that these policies will finally be available to students in need.

MICHAEL PEARLSON

Experience and change - with Michael Pearlson you get both. I'm a senator in ASO, reporter for The Union, and political science major, but just don't call me at 3 a.m.

Joe (Mr. Naija) Udeochu

JOE (MR. NAIJA) UDEOCHU
My name is Udeochu Joe. I am first year biology. My goal as a student is to achieve academic excellence, not only academically but also in terms of extra-curricular activities. So far, I have done a decent job in my classes and in holding a leadership position in the African club. Nonetheless, my pursuit of excellence is not complete until I play an active role in the student government. A position in the A.S.O. gives me a front roll seat in the decisions that affect me and thousands of other El Camino College students. Being elected to the position of Director of Academic Affairs will give me the opportunity to accomplish this.
It gives me the opportunity to field students' complaints and suggestions. After which I would present the issues to the A.S.O. and work to the best of my abilities to effect changes, if possible. In addition, it is time for a change. Voting me as Director of Academic Affairs will go a long way to end the bickering which has beset the ASO over the past semester. I will work in harmony with other leaders, regardless of our differences.

CANDIDATES FOR DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Samuel Seong-Hyun Hong

SAMUEL SEONG-HYUN HONG
Greetings from Samuel Seong-Hyun Hong,
Hello El Camino Students! It is my honor to be able to run as a candidate in the student government election. I have decided to run for another position in the Associated Student Government because I have had such a great experience being a Senator of the humanities department in the past semester. Being a member of ASO is such a rewarding job because the decisions over which I have had some influence make changes in the school environment. Now, I would like to take another opportunity to partake in creating a great school environment that each and every student at El Camino deserves. Please, vote for Samuel Seong-Hyun Hong for the brighter future of El Camino College

CANDIDATES FOR DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES

 Enemuoh Chiamaka Sandra (Chi-Chi)

ENEMUOH CHIAMAKA SANDRA (CHI-CHI)

 Jingyao (Cassie) Liao

JINGYAO (CASSIE) LIAO

Change! Change is the key to improvement, and as a Division Senator this year, I witnessed some amazing differences and contributions that ASO has made to the ECC student body. Currently, I am a freshman majoring in Biological Sciences, and am also an active member in some organizations on campus. As a student, I believe in order for our voices to be heard more effectively, we need to come together as a whole through better communication and stronger support. Given this opportunity, I would like to serve as Director of Student Services. This position is crucial in helping ASO achieve full potential in keeping its tradition, which is to represent students. If elected, I would continue my advocacy for the connection between students and the administration. I would strive to raise awareness of our rights and available resources on campus, to create a sense of community among our culturally diverse backgrounds by publicizing clubs and beneficial activities, and finally, to expand services by responding to your concerns and needs. I am flexible, friendly, open-minded, and eager for change. Please do vote to allow me the chance to become a better team player. Now just remember, cast your vote on Cassie!
