SOUTH BAY ORCHESTRA
The South Bay Youth Orchestra Started in 1995 by Dr. William E. Doyle, a Professor at El Camino College, This program provides performance opportunities for young musicians in the South Bay. Two other El Camino College Faculty members, Dr. Gary Iida and Mr. Bruce J. Tellier, assist Dr. Doyle. Dr. Iida is a co-founder of SBYO and all are musically active throughout the Southern California Community.
This Youth Orchestra consist of 120 talented children ages 7 to 17. Certain students, because of their special talent, are featured in some of the performances. Recently a young violinist by the name of Ms. Chika Emori has been exciting crowds with her music. She has won numerous awards and scholarships and has performed in Europe as well.
This year auditions are by appointment only and are held in the Marsee auditorium. Rehearsals are held in the Marsee as well, every Wed. 6pm to 9:30pm. Once in the orchestra, they become eligible for college credits.
