Governor Brown has signed Assembly Bill 194 into law!

Enrollment Priority starting Summer 2012!

On Saturday, October 8, 2011, the Governor signed Assembly Bill 194 (Fong) to require California community colleges to establish enrollment priority for foster youth and former foster youth (defined as an emancipated foster youth up to the age of 24).  The bill becomes effective January 1, 2012. The Financial Aid Office is in calaboration with other departments in order to implement this enrollment priority.  Check this website for further updates.


CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!!!!

Continuing Education Scholarships (CES) is geared for Foster Youth who have completed at least the equivalent of 4 full semsters of college work.  The purpose of the scholarship is to provide incentive and financial support assisting foster youth to maintain college enrollment and attendance.  The funds are to be used for educational expenses only and would be dispensed for semesters completed prior to 21st birthday.  The scholarship amount is $500.00 and maximum award of $3,000.00.  Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and meet satisfactory academic progress.

With the State Budget in a crisis, don't miss out on getting your Chafee check by not completing any of the above. If you don't you may be removed from the Chafee Program. You do want the $5,000.00 that is available to you, right?


YOUR Privacy is our Business! The Chafee program provides eligible California youth aging out of foster care with financial assistance to attend a postsecondary institution and be enrolled in an eligible program. Students may be eligible to receive up to $5,000 per year if they are enrolled in a minimum of 6 units and maintaining satisfactory academic progress (SAP).

Let us help you navigate the financial aid process and determine your eligibility for federal, state and institutional assistance.   • All Chafee participants MUST have a current FAFSA application on file

  • Must submit all requested documents to the Financial Aid Office in order to have a"Need Analysis" (NAR) submitted to the Student Aid Commissionin a timely manner.

  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units per semester.

  • Must be maintaining satisfactory academic progress (SAP) at all times. (If you are enrolled in "Pass, No Pass" classes, our system will not calculate a GPA.  Please visit the Financial Aid Office if you recieve a Sap notification or Warning letter.
