GET THE 411 ON PROCESSING

The most important things every financial aid student must know.

  1. Review all of the comments on your Student Aid Report (SAR)  and make corrections immediately online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  2. Submit all paperwork requested by the Financial Aid Office by logging onto MyECC and reviewing all missing documents under MyDocuments.

  3. Your legal name is matched against your ECC Admission application and FAFSA application. They must all be the same to process financial aid.

  4. Verify that you have an updated address with the Admissions & Records Office. The Financial Aid Office cannot update  your address for you.

  5. Complete the Placement Tests in the Assessment Center only if you have a high school diploma, a general equivalency diploma (GED) or a California Post-Secondary Certificate (CPE). Please come to the Financial Aid Office for an Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) Testing Referral if you do not have a high school diploma, GED or CPE certificate. The Financial Aid Office must refer students that failed the CAHSEE.

  6. New students save time and money if they attend a  Financial Aid Orientation. Call our office at 310-660-3493 and reserve a seat.

  7. Financial aid payments are not made to you unless you are enrolled in a degree (AS/AS/Transfer/Certificate) program.

  8. Review both the financial aid satisfactory academic progress policies and ECC academic policies.

  9. Understand the college withdrawal policies and the financial aid withdrawal policies. Do not rely on others to withdraw you from classes.

  10. Allow the Financial Aid Office time to process your file especially if you applied after March.

  11. Access your Financial Aid Award Letter online at MyECC and know your financial aid deadlines.

  12. Pay your 0.50 cent student representation fee and Health Center fee at the Cashier's Office.

  13. Courtesy Excel worksheets and FREE Calculators are available to estimate your college costs.

  14. The Financial Aid Office has a step-by-step process to search for scholarships. Go to Programs and select the Scholarship Office.

  15. El Camino College has an online database for students to apply for El Camino College scholarships. Logon to MyECC and click on online scholarship application.
