Financial Aid Appeals Committee - " B's or Better & A's are Awesome"

| Purpose |
The Financial Aid Appeals Committee reviews all student financial aid academic appeals and applies the campus satisfactory academic progress policies. These policies incorporate required federal elements, campus policies and procedures and is based upon consistent and fair standards of practice. |

Membership includes classified and certificated employees, faculy, management, and special guests. |

| Campaign |
"B's or Better & A's are Awesome" is a campaign intended to raise the public importance of good academic performance. Students will hopfully improve their academic standing to at least a "B or Better" and to matriculate in one of El Camino's degree programs (AA./AS/Certificate/Transfer). |

| Student |
Must learn how to navigate the financial aid appeals process using information made available in the Financial Aid Planner, Online Financial Aid Handbook, and on the Financial Aid Office website. Students must follow all rules and regulations and policies and procedures, in effect, at the time of his/her enrollment period. These policies remain in effect for all students on campus. |

Faculty |
Must submit grades to the Records Office in a timely manner so that official grades may be recorded, caluculated and reported. |

Records Office |
Must perform grade checks each term based upon standards developed by faculty, chief academic officer and state legislation. ECC Records Office must submit an academic report within 30 days to the Chancellor's Office to remain in compliance with state law. |

Financial Aid Office |
Must perform a separate grade check at least once in the spring semester and twice if student attends during summer term according to various sections of CFR 34, Sections 668. Students cannot be disbursed federal and/or state financial aid without meeting eligibility requirements that include both qualitative and quantitatiive standards. Appeals Committee Members |
Meet to review and render decisions based in federal law and financial aid policies and procedures. All standards of practice must be fair and equitable to all students. | |
